Audition Information

The Elephant Man

Orcutt Community Theater will be holding open auditions for The Elephant Man, by Bernard Pomerance,

Sunday, Dec 2 nd , 3 to 6 PM, and Monday, December 3 rd , 6-9 PM. The auditions will be held at KleinDance Arts (KDA), in the Skyway Center at 3546 Skyway Drive, off the back-parking lot.

Performances are scheduled at KDA on February 22, 23, 24 and March 1, 2, 3. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 PM, and Sundays at 2 PM.

There are roles for 5 men and 4 women, and all roles area vailable. Also needed are a cellist, an important part of any production of The Elephant Man.

John Merrick was a Victorian era English man with very severe face and body deformities who was first exhibited at a freak show, then he went to live at the London Hospital after he met Dr. Frederick Treves and subsequently became well known in London society as an intelligent and sensitive man who bore his afflictions without complaint. He died in 1890 at age 27.
